Volunteers

Would you like to be a part of the longest running multi-level sports event Volunteering is a great way to be involved in the Games, experience all the fun and be a part of the Games community. Our volunteers are the backbone of such a large event, and we have opportunities to be involved prior to the Games packing competitors games kits, check-ins at the registration Hub and assist with the Opening Ceremony.

This year is the 40th year of the NQ Games a biennial event that rotates between Cairns, Townsville, and Mackay. In 2024, the Cairns region will host the Games around various locations from 3-6 May. 3,000 athletes are expected to compete in 26 individual and team sports over the four days and attend the Opening Ceremony.

Thank you for your interest in becoming a volunteer for the 2024 North Queensland Games (NQ Games) and helping bring the event to life. The following information highlights the opportunities we have:

NQ Games volunteers:

· Are required to attend an information and training session on Wednesday 24 April 4.30pm- 5.30pm.

· Agree and accept the Volunteer Agreement

· Are over 18 years at time of event

· May be required to undertake manual handling (ie. lifting, moving boxes and equipment)

· Meet new people and working with the public as part of the NQ GAMES team

· Will receive a volunteer crew shirt and lanyard (which must be worn while volunteering)

· Will receive a souvenir Games bag

· Attend the Opening Ceremony

· Attend the Closing Ceremony
