The Countdown Is On: 365 Days until the 2026 Mackay NQ Games

The 2026 Mackay NQ Games is just 1 year away!

The North Queensland Sports Foundation has been hard at work overhauling it’s web and digital content, upgrading registration platforms, creating new branding, working with merchandise suppliers, and planning for the 21st NQ Games (May 1st – May 4th 2026) to be the biggest in 20 years.

With the spotlight on the 2032 Brisbane Olympic Games, there’s a renewed interest in building up regional infrastructure, sports clubs and capacity of volunteers and athletes.

The NQ Games serves as a unique platform, both providing a regional competitive atmosphere for aspiring athletes, but also as a celebration of sport and community for a range of smaller disciplines or associations.

NQSF’s Chief Executive Officer Alexander J. Fisher provided the following statement

“We’ve had tremendous interest so far from sporting clubs and associations in the 2026 edition of the Games in Mackay. I’m particularly excited about the number of smaller sporting communities that see The Games as a genuine opportunity to expand their player and volunteer bases and install a marquee event in their calendars.

There’s plenty of work to still do – we’re aiming for 40+ sports across the Mackay, Isaac and Whitsunday areas – but I’m very excited about what we’ll be able to share later this year.”

You can register your interest, and view the history of the event on nqgames.com.au
