What event will you be participating at the NQ Games?

Have you ever competed in an NQ Games before?

Yes, early 2000’s. Unfortunately that was too long ago for me to remember, but i’m very excited to be playing tournament baseball again.

How important is it for you to have local competition like this event?

It’s great to strive to play at a higher level and I find these types of events give the everyday player a chance to do this, at any age.

What’s your best piece of advice for athletes in your sport?

Enjoy the moment, look after you and your teammates. It’s a lot of baseball in a short time.

Who has inspired you the most in your sport?

My coaches over the years have, but these days it’s my kids. To show them what its like to be part of a team and encourage them to experience it for themselves.

What part of North Queensland are you from?

Townsville has been home since 1990 after a family posting with parents in defence, then we never left.

What’s your favourite thing to do in Townsville?

Apart from baseball? We live in a beautiful part of the world.

How did you start/get into this sport?

I started playing in 1995 when a school mate told me to switch from soccer after we both left for high school.

How long have you been playing/competing in this sport?

I’ve been playing for 27 years now and still play against my school who introduced me to baseball all this time later!

The NQ games are a great event to meet and socialise with other athletes, have you made new friends through sport?

All the time, it’s nice to meet new players as the clubs and league grows. It’s great seeing players of the past come back and play again, it’s even better seeing them bring their kids along to start playing and keep baseball alive and well in Townsville.
