Mackay Fire Special Olympics welcomes competitors of all levels to test themselves in a professionally delivered competition while experiencing the energy, community spirit, and legacy atmosphere of the North Queensland Games. Whether you’re chasing a personal best or representing your club, this is your chance to compete, connect, and celebrate sport with athletes from across the region - register now to secure your place.

 

Key Information:

To participate in NQ Games for Special Olympics, you need to register on the NQ Games Registration Portal (Play HQ - $39).

Included in cost is:

  • Free North Queensland Games Athletic Cap and Bag for first 3000 registrations.

Mackay Fire Special Olympics will charge a separate fee per sport and this will be charged on Play HQ at the end of the registration process. Please see the "Fees" tab for more information. 

 

Game/Competition Details: 

  • The Special Olympics is run by Mackay Fire and will include the sports of Basketball, Bocce, Table Tennis, Powerlifting and Ten Pin Bowling. 
  • All sports include a Come and Try element for anyone with an intellectual disability and/or autism to have a go. Basketball is not suitable for wheelchairs or walkers however, all other sports are fully accessible.

AGE & Divisions

DIVISIONS

Mackay Fire Special Olympics will arrange divisions and teams (if required) for all sports depending on nominations received.

  • Basketball: Assisted, C Grade, A/B Grade, Unified
  • Bocce: Singles with 10 divisions
  • Powerlifting: Male/Female each 3 divisions category of Junior, Senior, Master, Unified.
  • Table Tennis: Singles with 10 divisions
  • Ten Pin Bowling: Singles with 10 divisions

Fees

All participants across the North Queensland Games incur a $39 Games Fee - with the first 3000 registrants receiving a registration pack with a free bag and North Queensland Games cap.

Mackay Fire Special Olympics charges the below fees per sport:

  • Basketball $5
  • Bocce $2
  • Powerlifting $5
  • Table Tennis $2
  • Ten Pin Bowling $25
Instructions to Register:
  1. Follow the link to Play HQ and select "Get Started".
  2. Create an account and log in.
  3. Follow the prompts by filling in your details and selecting "continue".
  4. Review the terms and conditions and select the tick box then, press "continue".
  5. A list of sports will pop up, select "+Add to Order" on each sport you wish to participate in then, select "Continue". See below for your reference. 

8. You will then be prompted to fill in your payment details then select "Confirm & Pay".
