I began doing Horse Sports when I was a child. Initially at Bluewater Equestrian Group then Woodstock Horse Sports Club. I have been a member of, or attended Woodstock Horse Sports Club since it all began 30 years ago 😳 (ssshhh 🤫 that makes me feel old!!).

I grew up on a cattle property near Townsville and it was nice to take the horses and do something other than chase cows and dodge trees.

I lived in Charters Towers for a few years and was the President of the Charters Towers Horse Sports Club at one point. I still used to travel to Townsville to attend Woodstock Horse Sports and Rupertswood Horse Sports. It is my way of having fun with my horse and friends.

Have you ever competed in an NQ Games before?

Yes.

If so, what’s your favourite memory/experience of the sport?

Having fun on horses with people from all over North Qld

How important is it for you to have local competition like this event?

Events like this help promote the enjoyment of sport and having fun with friends, both old and new.

What’s your best piece of advice for athletes in your sport?

Just have fun! If you end up with a ribbon, medal or trophy then that’s a bonus!

Who has inspired you the most in your sport?

There are some people who have been able to continue riding and enjoying Horse Sports in their 60s, and 70s! I hope to still be able to ride and enjoy it when I get around that age too.

What’s your favourite thing to do in Townsville?

Occasionally I like to go down and enjoy the Strand.

How did you start/get into this sport?

It was something to do on my horse other than chase cows and dodge trees.

How long have you been playing/competing in this sport?

Around 30 years 😳🤫

What are your sporting career goals?

Have fun riding until I can’t anymore!

Are you competing in a few sports at the games?

No, just Horse Sports.
