Michael Martin

Mike has played ice hockey since he was 5 years old. He played intramural hockey at University and in summer hockey leagues in Canada.

Over the last 14 years in Australia he has played ice and inline hockey in Townsville.

How important is it for you to have local competition like this event?

It’s very important to help attract new players and grow the sport. It’s a great opportunity

What’s your best piece of advice for athletes in your sport?

Just to give it a go and have fun

Who has inspired you the most in your sport?

No one in particular, I grew up playing and watching the sport

What’s your favourite thing to do in Townsville?

Play ice hockey

How did you start/get into this sport?

I grew up in Canada playing on a frozen pond in the winter

How long have you been playing/competing in this sport?

I have been playing for close to 40 years
