I have been with Sun Soo ITF Taekwon-Do club for 7 years. I have won 2 gold medals for sparring and patterns at the 2019 CHITF World Championship.

What event will you be participating in at the NQ Games?

ITF Taekwon-Do

Have you ever competed in an NQ Games before (if so what is your favourite memory/experience of the sport?)

Unfortunately we were unable to compete in 2021 or 2020 as COVID-19 affected this.

How important is it for you to have local competition like this event?

Massively important, as it allows our local clubs to come together and share progress and grow together as a sport, not just as individual clubs – there is always something to learn

What’s your best piece of advice for athletes in your sport?

Strive for personal goals. It’s not about who can get to black belt first, it’s about setting goals for yourself and striving for that goal. The mental reward is just as great as the physical one, if not better.

Who has inspired you the most in your sport?

Sabum Andy Smith – 6th degree (black belt) International Instructor

What part of North Queensland are you from?

Townsville

What’s your favourite thing to do in Townsville?

Visit Magnetic Island

How did you start/get into this sport?

My little sister wanted join and to support her, I joined as well

How long have you been playing/competing in this sport?

7 years this year (2022)

What are your sporting career goals?

I’d love to reach as high a degree of black belt as I can, at my own pace.
