My name is Hooper Urquhart, I am 10 years old and I started Karting when I was 7.

I have competed at regional and state levels; my greatest achievement to date is being named the Cadet 9 NQ Series Champion for 2021. Through Karting I have met some incredible people, friendships I have made I know will last a lifetime!”

What event will you be participating at the NQ Games?

I will be competing in Karting.

Have you ever competed in an NQ Games before?

I was nominated to compete in 2020, but the games were cancelled due to Covid.

How important is it for you to have local competition like this event?

I travel all over Qld to compete so having the opportunity to have an event like this at my home track is awesome, it gives you a little advantage and also give us the opportunity to showcase our region.

What’s your best piece of advice for athletes in your sport?

Just send it!! – haha nah, I guess just have fun & if you see an opportunity, take it.

Who has inspired you the most in your sport?

I have been most inspired the most by my fellow NQ karters, I am lucky to be surrounded by an awesome Karting community

What’s your favourite thing to do in Townsville?

Go Karting

How did you start/get into this sport?

My dad used to race Karts and always wanted me to race, the hardest thing was convincing mum!

How long have you been playing/competing in this sport?

I started when I was 7 so this is my 4th year

What are your sporting career goals?

I would love to win a State Title, but there is a lot of tough competition in Qld!

The NQ games are a great event to meet and socialise with other athletes, have you made new friends through sport?

I have, Some of my best friends I have met through karting!
