Most sports during the 2026 North Queensland Games will require registration through the North Queensland Games portal (hosted by PLAY HQ).
For those sports, clicking on the relevant link or Yellow Button on each sport page will take you the Play HQ page. You'll be prompted to create a profile or log in. Play HQ supply portals for competitions including Junior Rugby League, Cricket, Netball and AFL - so you (or your child) may already have a profile.
If not - creating one takes 2 minutes with minimal details.
After logging in, each sport will have between 4-6 steps, including division selection. Some sports will have 'add-ons' at the final stage where you select your preferred competition aspects.
Once registered - you'll receive two auto emails within minutes from Play HQ. One with confirmation, and one with your invoice with an order number. Please retain your order/invoice # as it helps identify your place in the registration list to be inside the first 3000.

With registration, the first 3000 athletes are entitled to a registration pack - a North Queensland Games backpack and athletic cap - as part of our early bird offer
Depending on the sport, you may be asked to either fill out your details on a second portal. For example, for Boxing, Athletics and Swimming, you will need to register on the NQ Games Portal first, and then the other portal second for them to construct complicated draws or competition bouts.
It's important to note: you will not be able to compete in these sports if you do not complete both registrations.
If you're lucky, you get to skip the NQ Games portal altogether!
For example: registration for Outrigger Canoe Racing, can only take place on the AOCRA portal.
If your sport doesn't need to use the NQ Games Portal, it'll be clearly listed on the Sports Page.
The NQ Games team keeps track of sequential registrations (ie. the first 3000) with a combination of Invoice #s and registration time.
