Townsville City Netball Association are pleased to introduce Estel Mocelutu our 2020 NQ Games Ambassador.

Estel grew up watching her mother and older sister playing netball and followed their lead commencing netball at the age of 7 in the Net Set Go program at TCNAI as a GA.

Estel joined the Cathedral Schools netball team in grade 4 playing every Wednesday night until grade 12. Estel was mentored by local coaches Mrs Gates and Mrs Rauch and transitioned from GA to play C and WA. For the next four years she successfully played in the NQ team making selection in the Queensland Team her goal.

She went on to play Div 1 for Neptunes with her Mum as coach, and was selected for TCNAI representative teams under Sandy Searl and Barrie Emanuel.

Estel has not been a stranger to adversity tearing ligaments in her ankle and rupturing an ACL all in the one year. After a long recovery she made her return to Premier League for Neptune’s and coached by Jude Bully with the team winning the Premiership Grand Final that year. Estel was named MVP in the grand final game.

In 2020 she was named in the Northern Rays U18 team coached by Ange Cooper and Bec Bulloch. In 2021 after completing her school studies she continued playing in Premier League for the Highlanders and reconnected with coach Barrie Emanuel. After the team narrowly missed the Grand Final, Estel was awarded Centre (C) of the year.

2021 was definitely her year, as she was then selected in the Sapphire Series for the Northern Rays, coached by Vicki Wilson and receiving the call up for the 2022 U19 QLD Squad. In 2022 Estel is representing Highlanders in the Premier League competition, Northern Mendi Rays and also has training commitments with the QLD U19 team.

She is working towards her goal to one day play in the Suncorp Super League.
