I am very honoured to be nominated by The Townsville Cycle Club, to be a Micro Ambassador for the NQ Games.

Have you ever competed in an NQ Games before?

I have been a Commissaire, at previous NQ Games.

How important is it for you to have local competition like this event?

It is important for the local riders to compete in the Games, to gain experience and confidence.

What’s your best piece of advice for athletes in your sport?

My best advice for the local cyclists, it to firstly enjoy the competition, and just try their best.

I have been involved with Cycling in Townsville for 35 years, during this time I have seen quite a number of riders, begin their cycling journey and have coached many, and one to a Australian Title, one to Australian Representation at the Oceanica Games, here in Townsville in 1995. And 1 for the World Masters Games at Melbourne. Edmonton Canada and Turin Italy.

How did you start/get into this sport?

I began riding in Mount Isa as a Junior. Then became involved with cycling again when my eldest son, began riding about 38 years ago. And have involved ever since then.

I am a Aus Cycling Coach and a Level 3 National Commissaire. As I am based in Townsville, I Commissaire at quite a lot of cycling events in North Queensland.
