I will be participating in the Gymnastics event for NQ Games

Have you ever competed in an NQ Games before? If so, what’s your favourite memory/experience of the sport?

I have competed in NQ Games before. My favourite memory was the atmosphere. Being able to do my sport as part of such a great event was great fun.

How important is it for you to have local competition like this event?

As an athlete from a small town it is so important for regional athletes to have the same opportunities as the athletes in the bigger cities.

What’s your best piece of advice for athletes in your sport?

To achieve your goals you need to work hard. The effort you put in will reflect on your achievements. Push yourself past your limits and to achieve you must believe in yourself.

Who has inspired you the most in your sport?

The people that have inspired me the most are my three coaches, Kristen, Matt and Brodie. They have all inspired me to be the best version of myself.

What part of North Queensland are you from?

I’m from Townsville.

What’s your favourite thing to do in Townsville?

I enjoy spending time with my friends along the strand.

How did you start/get into this sport?

When I was younger I remember my sister taught me how to do my first back walkover on the grass in the back yard. Ever since then I was put into gymnastics and fell in love with the sport.

This year will be my 9th year doing gymnastics.

What are your sporting career goals?

My goals for my gymnastics career is to get to level 10 and hopefully make an Australian team. I would love to represent my country one day.

Are you competing in a few sports at the games? If so, what are they and how will you balance/manage this commitment?

No, just gymnastics.

The NQ games are a great event to meet and socialise with other athletes, have you made new friends through sport?

Yes, when I went to the Gold Coast for Nationals I made many friends from all over Queensland. Sport is a great opportunity to meet new people!
